A Transportation Services general information guide, vehicle accident checklist, accident report kit and an Indiana state map are located in the glove compartment of all university vehicles.

Every operator of a motor pool vehicle is responsible for understanding and adhering to ALL policies.

Accident Reporting
 Any accident (regardless of the extent of damage) involving a university-owned vehicle must be investigated by the police and reported to Transportation Services. For further information, please refer to the accident checklist and report kit located in the glove compartment of each university-owned vehicle.

Cancellations
 If it is necessary to cancel a reservation, it should be done as early as possible. A one-day rental fee is assessed for all reserved vehicles not canceled 24 hours prior to the scheduled pick-up time.

Seat Belt Use
 Ball State University requires the use of passenger restraints in all university-owned vehicles.

Smoking Policy
 Smoking is prohibited in all university-owned vehicles.

Use Authorization
 Authorized Ball State University faculty, staff and student employees with a valid driver's license may operate a motor pool vehicle. The vehicle may only be used for Ball State University business.
 Before releasing a vehicle to a driver, Transportation Services must:
  • have a signed and approved Authorization for Travel form
  • verify driver license information for all persons listed as drivers on the vehicle reservation
